honey helps with digestion

"Raw honey is noteworthy for having considerable plant amylase. The amylase does not come from the bee but is a true plant enzyme, concentrated from the pollen of flowers... If you wish to predigest a starch food, such as bread, spread some raw honey on it. The moment the honey and bread come into contact, the honey enzyme starts predigestion; and as you chew more digestion takes place. If the bread with its honey enzyme coating is allowed to stand at room temperature for 15 minutes before you eat it, there will be less work for salivary amylase."

protection for a Registered Nurse

I would like to tell you how great the honey items have worked for me. I am a Registered Nurse who works two days a week in a local hospital. Prior to taking your honey products I would annually have a cold and or flu during the season. I also have asthma, which was diagnosed in me at age 3. I take local raw honey & bee pollen from a local bee keeper in my community daily, my allergies & asthma have been better then ever before.

This will be my third year taking Elderberry Syrup , Wild Cherry syrup & Rejuvenation Tonic daily. I haven't had a cold, bronchitis or flu the past two years, I am convinced the reason I haven't gotten sick is because of your three products. My charge nurse asked me to order her the honey items I take daily, which I just did online.

Thank you for working so hard on producing such high quality items.

A very satisfied customer,

relief from poison ivy with propolis spray

Hey Honey Gardens,

I used the spray on a few areas that the Poison Ivy spread to. Then I sprayed it directly on the blisters where the oil had apparently come in contact with my daughter's skin. That area improved TREMENDOUSLY in 24 hours. In general, she is 100% better since I spoke to you and tried the spray. Its definitely on its way OUT.

I also gave her a lavender oil bath with oatmeal (in a sock) and some homeopathic remendy along with the spray. I am convinced that the spray did most of the trick. I think it isolated the oil from the leaf and kept it from spreading. But who knows - it might have been the whole combination. You inspired me by saying it could be part of the cure.

Thanks again for your kindness.

good news ~ honey house salve relieves fever blisters

Quite some time ago, I had ordered the salve (plus some other items), never really knowing what I was going to use it for. For years (+ years…..), I have suffered from fever blisters, especially after working all day outside in the garden and frequently licking my dry lips. After yet another attack, I started using the spray on the open blisters, only to find that within days the blisters healed. I then experimented with the salve and it is like a miracle. I can always feel blisters coming and now put the salve immediately morning and night on my lips – NO MORE FEVER BLISTERS! I have just ordered one more salve for a dear friend of mine who suffers from the same problem. I am 62 yrs. old and this is the first time in my life that I have actually found THE most effective treatment for a painful and unsightly medical problem.

While I usually don’t make it a habit to write to magazines etc, I just wanted to let you know HOW much I enjoy your newsletter. We recently sold our vacation home in Vermont (which I miss dearly) and your letters transport me back to what was so dear and special to me. Thank you for brightening my day and educating me at the same time.

Best regards,
Annette

using honey & elderberry on “myositis ossificans”

Thanks. The honey and elderberry syrup was an answer to a prayer. I have a severe ski injury to my leg from 2 1/2 months ago. Last week the Dr. told me, after looking at the x-rays, there was substantial bone growing in the muscle from all the inflammation and it would be several more months and perhaps surgery to remove it. Your 4 oz of syrup arrived 3 days later, and the pain was increasing so much, so I started taking one Tbs. 3x/day along with the anti-inflammatory medication I had been using for the past couple months. It is nothing short of miraculous that within 2 days of taking the syrup, the pain has subsided significantly since the accident for the first time. I can sleep again at night and have run out of the small amount I ordered. Need a little more until the healing is complete- many thanks for your wonderful product. It would be interesting to see an x-ray, the bone feels as if it is almost gone in less than a week, not several months! It would be OK to use my testimonial. The name of the condition is “myositis ossificans” and it can occur in severe sports injuries where there is a lot of inflammation.

propolis spray a miracle

Last summer I developed painful sores in my mouth. I was seen by my family doctor, who recommended an infectious disease specialist, who recommended a dermatologist, who sent me to an oral surgeon for a biopsy of my mouth. The doctors were almost positive that I had an auto immune disease. Thank goodness I didn't, but we never came up with a diagnosis. I was placed on high doses of steroids, which healed my mouth, but in about 3 weeks I noticed the sores were coming back. I happened to be in a place where your products were being sold and I purchased the propolis spray and began using it immediately. The sores never developed, and when I feel as though they are developing in my mouth again, I use the spray. It takes them away or I should say prevents them from forming. My husband happens to be a physician, and is just amazed with this product. Thank you so much, this has been a Godsend for me!

more than 30 years

Now, I have something very special to tell you. But, first it is important to note that I my uncle, Dominic J. Mazzoni, was vice president of Merck for many years and in fact was founder/president of Merck Espana. I add this here to explain that I was raised and treated with, up until about the early 80's, with the highest level of medical treatment in NYC and Boston.

I have been, since I was about 9 years old, suffering from stomach problems. Basically, twice a year I would have severe stomach pains. When I was living in Boston around 77 I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer. Well, I went through the usual treatment at that time, Tagamet, an acid blocker, and received basically no cure. I then moved on to acupuncture which did do a great deal of good, however, no cure. I have basically lived with this since then dealing with the pain as it came.

Creating a way to lessen it and through a series of alternative methods was able to get over the crisis each time they occurred. For the last two years things have dramatically changed. The pain became much more frequent and old patterns changed. I would have very serious long bouts with pain for weeks at a time. This was quite problematic, but, given the fact that I have no health insurance, I ended up dealing with it on my own. And, also, I had given up any faith in that medical system anyway.

Well, this year I was literally in pain for half the summer and since the fall was basically in pain all the time except for about 10 days. (throughout that entire period). I was coming to a very crucial point, knowing that I would have to do something simply because I just couldn't take it any more. I couldn't think straight for having so much pain to deal with and was starting to investigate how I could possible find some way to get some free tests. I began to research on the internet and found what the treatment would be. Two lines of antibiotic and once again an acid blocker such as Tagament. Well, I was not happy with this and began to do other research. I suddenly found a web site from New Zealand which was talking about new research using raw honey to cure ulcers, that is to irradicate H.Pylori bacteria. They of course, were selling their own kind of honey from their part of the world.

Interestingly enough, your honey had arrived that same day. I then did more research in other places and found out about dosages. 1 teaspoon or tablesppon taken on an empty stomach 4 times a day (that is 90 minutes before eating and 3 hours after each meal). immediately, after the first teaspoon full, I felt something begin to happen.

I did it religiously for about 9 days until Christmas eve, then wavered a bit and then returned for about a week more. Well in 2 days it will be one month. I have been totally pain free. NO more problems. There are tweaks here and there, however, when that happens I just take the honey and it goes away. I cannot even begin to express how much this means to me. How much it has returned me to peace and well being. And, it is all due to your honey (no I didn't need New Zealand honey).

Please feel free to use this information in anyway you see fit. And if anyone else would like to talk to me about it, i'm easily reachable here (except when I travel overseas to conduct or supervise performances of my own compositions).

Please give my best to your entire staff. After a lifetime of stomach problems, it truly is a great reward to me to have cured it without so called modern medicine. Of course, I have told quite a few people about this, and will continue to do so.

All the best, and thank you for your investment in such a great honey product.

from the Book of Daniel

About 2600 years ago in God's Word, The Bible, there existed a man named Daniel, an Israelite. He and his three friends were taken captive to the empire of Babylon to be trained for three years and then to serve in the king's palace. They were told to eat the royal food, but, not wanting to defile themselves, they requested only vegetables and water for ten days. Then they asked to have their appearance compared with the king's young men. In Daniel Chapter one, it says, At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men that ate the royal food...." and " In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom."

God tells us in Genesis 6:3, that our years on earth are to be 120, and in Genesis 1:29 that we are to be vegans (no meat or dairy). Daniel was part of the wisdom of the ages. Moses, on vegan manna from God in the desert, lived those 120 years. John the Baptist's diet was composed of wild locusts (carob from the locust tree), and raw honey. His mind had to be especially clear, for on that diet he announced the greatest message of all time the coming of the Messiah. A diet of raw juices, raw honey, lots of pure water, whole grains, and raw fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds, like these people that I mentioned, will give you an amazingly clear mind, lots of energy, the correct weight for you, healing from virtually any disease, and of course, healthy longevity.

I have been suffering bronchitis for over two weeks now. I have been on antibiotics, and a prescription cough medicine with codeine. I went to a local health store where I found your Honey Wild Cherry Syrup. At first I was a bit skeptical. I didn't think anything would help my coughing that was keeping me up night and day. Boy was I wrong. Your product worked tremendously! Even my family noticed how quickly my coughing was relieved. Just goes to prove that nature has always been the best cure all along! I won't go back to those horrible over the counter or prescription medicines with alcohol and horrible side effects. Thank you for making such a great product!

My Mother's testimony
May 2002

For many years I have been bothered with some sores that appear on my backside and my spine. When I am extremely nervous, they itch, burn and at times they even hurt! Even my doctors couldn't figure out what they are and what to do for them. We tried different medications but to no avail. I recently went to visit my daughter in Pennsylvania and my nerves were really bad due to the move. They were so bad that I could not sleep on my back. My daughter gave me some of your Honey house propolis salve and applied some to my mystery sores and immediately the sting and burning left. The next day after I got back to Mass., I realized that the sores had all disappeared !!!!! I called my daughter to tell her what happened and she was so happy as she knows all the years that I have been suffering with these sores. This is such a relief.

May 24, 2001

Just a quick note to tell you of my TOTAL satisfaction with the Apitherapy honey I ordered a while back! For many years I have been suffering from successively worse episodes of hay fever and other seasonal allergies. I have used just about every product available, short of the Dr. administered allergy shots, which my physician was reluctant to do.

This year, I had made it a personal goal to endure the allergy season without the use of any medications or prescriptions (Claritin D,Allegra,et.al.). My strategy was to consume substantial quantities of water (about 1 gallon/day or more), have at least one tablespoon of Bee Pollen granules (usually with my cereal in the morning) which I get at the local GNC store, and RAW Honey (which I, of course, got through you). Results? Thus far this year, I have been virtually SURROUNDED by people suffering extreme allergy symptoms who take Claritin and other meds. daily. While they have been suffering, I have nary sneezed a dozen times. No kidding!

I had read for some time of the benefits of RAW honey and bee pollen, and now I am living proof of its efficacy. Thanks again. I hope you folks are having a good spring up there in the north country and wish you all continued success! Look for me to re-order! I am just about done with the first 5 lb. jar and actually look forward to having the honey in the afternoon as much as sitting down to dinner or going to Fenway Park.

Cheers!

gall bladder, raw honey & apple cider vinegar

I have to tell you something that recently happened right after getting my delivery of honey. I have been ill for a while and one of the problems is gall bladder problems. My doctor told me to drink apple cider vinegar and honey in water three times a day for a while. He told me he wanted it to be raw " good" honey and asked if I thought I could get my hands on some. I laughed and told him that I just happened to have a 60 gallon pail of it that was delivered to me the day before. He was a bit shocked at the 60 pounds but I told him that it is my years supply. He wants to eventually order for himself. (He is new to New England and is setting up a new home and trying to locate sources for things. ) Anyway, I'll give him your address when he is ready for it. - Take care. C. in northern Vermont

THE ELIXIR OF THE ANCIENTS

Honey the Sacred:

Honey was referred to in most ancient writings as a gift of God. The Koran, the Code of Islam, recommended honey as a wholesome food and excellent medicine The Prophet ordered the eating of honey not only because it was an exquisite food and an important healing substance but because it brought one good luck. The followers of Islam looked upon honey as a talisman. Mohammedan conception of Paradise was " rivers flowing with honey." 1

*
Honey, the Prophets Choice:

An Arabic writer (Ibn Magili) quotes the words of the Prophet: " Honey is a medicine for the body and the Koran is medicine for the soul benefit yourselves by the use of the Koran and of honey." 1

*
Honey, the Invincible!:

There is a story that a man once went to Mohammed and told him that his brother was afflicted with violent pains in his belly and with diarrhea, upon which the prophet bade him give his brother honey. He heeded the prophet's advice, but soon returned and reported to Mohammed that the medicine had not done his brother any good. Mohammed exclaimed: " Go and give him more honey, for God speaks true, and thy brother's belly lies." The dose being repeated, the man, by God's mercy and the salutary effect of honey, was cured. The Koran repeatedly mentions the technical skill of the bees in producing sweet honey from the bitter juices of plants. Mohammed maintained that medicines administered by physicians are bitter but those given by God are as sweet as honey. 1

*
The Land of Honey

Honey must have been abundant in ancient Egypt. The He brews referred to it as " a land flowing with milk and honey."

*
Honey, Nature’s Ancient Medicine

The Egyptian papyri are full of praise about the curative properties of honey. The Papyrus Ebers especially praised its medicinal value.

*

According to this most ancient source of knowledge, {in Egypt} honey was not only a staple commodity but a popular medicine, extensively used internally, and also externally in surgical dressings for burns, ulcers and preeminently for weakness and in
*

“The ancients used honey as a remedy for everything from arthritis and asthma, to burns, constipation, and hangovers, from hay fever to hemorrhoids, migraine, and shingles, from varicose ulcers to battle wounds. The magic of honey was that it could ward off infections and speed healing. “ 4

*

The " Coca-Cola" of ancient Rome was a fruit beverage made with honey, and valued for its " pick-up" qualities. 1

*
Honey, Science’s Modern Medicine

In " Acceleration of Wound Healing by Topical Application of
Honey," an article published in the American Journal of Surgery in 1983 Arieh Bergman and colleagues report, " Topical application of raw, unboiled honey was observed to be effective in decubitus ulcers, infected wounds, and burns. Honey is hypertonic and has been shown to be sterile and highly bactericidal.

" 'In all instances," the Israeli researchers continued, " the area of the wound was smaller and depth of tissue repair was greater in wounds treated with honey. Acceleration of tissue repair was seen when honey was used. Wounds of the honey-treated animals healed much faster than the wounds of the control animals. Our results suggest that honey applied topically on open wounds accelerates the healing process."

From S. Mladenov of Bulgaria comes a report entitled " Diseases of the Air Passages Treated With Honey." I'm not going to ask you to read through all the details involved in treating the 17,862 patients in this study. I'm giving you only brief excerpts of the results. According to the report, honey performed well against a variety of respiratory problems, as follows:

We found honey has bactericidal, anti-allergic, anti~inflammatory, and expectorant properties that insure the body an immunobiological defense and give it the capacity to regenerate its attacked cells. Of 17,862 patients treated with honey, 8,836 were men and 9,026 were women. Most of the patients ranged from 21 to 60 years old. After treatment, the results are:

Chronic bronchitis. Without symptoms-64.41 percent improved condition-23.5 percent temporary improvement-6.3 percent no effect-5.69 percent.

Asthmatic bronchitis. Without symptoms-62 percent improved condition-26.40 percent temporary improvement-5.60 percent no effect-6 percent.

Bronchial asthma. Without symptoms-55.44 percent long-lasting improvement (fewer and lighter crises)

30.25 percent temporary improvement-5.80 percent no effect-8.51 percent.

Chronic rhinitis. Without symptoms-82 percent long lasting improvement-14 percent no effect-4 percent.

Allergic rhinitis. Without symptoms-62 percent longlasting improvement-22 percent temporary improvement-6 percent no effect-6 percent.

Sinusitis. Without symptoms-56 percent long-lasting improvement-14 percent temporary improvement-16 percent no effect-14 percent.

According to the conclusion of the report, " The treatment of non-specific diseases of the air passages with honey is efficient when the right honey type and method are used. Treatment with honey is contraindicated for patients with allergy to honey, when in crisis, status asthmaticus, tumors in the air passages, cardiopulmonary insufficiency and fever."

This next paper, entitled 'The use of Honey in Natural Therapeutics,- was authored by Yves Donadieu of France. It was presented at the Apitherapy Second Symposium hosted by Romania in the mid-1970s. Because Donadieu's concluding statement offers a wide overview, I am using excerpts from it to sum up the use of honey as both food and medicament: " This food was found to be perfectly tolerated, even in very large doses. Honey contains a series of nutritive and power-producing elements. It has an important stimulant action overall. Honey has a light appetite-stimulating effect and facilitates assimilation and digestion of other foods. It also has laxative, sedative, antitoxic, antiseptic, anti-anemic, fever-reducing, and emollient properties."

Donadieu also says, " The sick man eats honey in the following syndromes: Physical and mental fatigue during disease or convalescence aging abnormal rhythm of the heart high

Blood pressure after serious operations pharyngitis, laryngitis, rhinitis, sinusitis, general bronchial diseases coughs of various origins urine retention nervous disorders depression insomnia, some headaches infected wounds ulcerations burns pruritis, skin diseases cramps."

On feeding infants honey, Donadieu believes, " Honey facilitates calcium assimilation and magnesium retention in babies. Babies fed on honey develop better than those fed on sugar."

Caution: In spite of the fact that honey has been routinely fed to babies for hundreds of years, research has recently tied some cases of infant botulism and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome 31DS) to the feeding of honey to infants. Yes, honey is a nutrient-rlch food long thought suitable for babies. However, due to recent findings, feeding honey to infants cannot be recommended.

A 1980 report from the Scientific Board of the California Medical Association entitled " Honey, Infant Botulism and the sudden Infant Death Syndrome" reinforces this warning. however, it also says, " The safety of honey for older persons with normal intestinal physiology remains unquestioned." The more efficient intestinal tracts of older children and adults are not susceptible to attack by C botulinum bacteria, which are the culprits in infant botulism. In fact, in many ways, honey is .indisputably better for the body than sugar.”
Canada, some years ago, and extensive medical research was carried out in which members of the Walkers' Club of the Central Y.M.C.A. served as subjects. Many diets were studied and given trials for certain periods, and tests were made of the blood-sugar levels of the athletes both before and after competitive exercises. In the end, the medical report revealed that honey was the most useful of all foods for raising the blood-sugar level, and concluded:

" Honey has the following advantages over other sugars:

i. It is non-irritating to the delicate membranes of the digestive tract.
